Vehicle Inspection and Registration Work Together in Texas

Tom Green County Cars & Driving

Since January 1, 2025, Texas has dropped the safety check for personal cars and trucks. Big work trucks and other commercial vehicles still need an inspection.

Tom Green County is not on the emissions-test list. For a standard personal car here, renewal is mainly a tag task. You can renew online, by mail, or through the Tom Green County Tax Office in San Angelo.

You may still see an inspection replacement fee on the renewal notice. Read the fee lines, but you do not need to find an inspection station for a normal personal-car renewal here.
