The Trinity River forms the eastern edge of Ellis County

The Trinity River forms the eastern border of Ellis County. Several smaller waterways drain the county too. Those include Red Oak Creek, Waxahachie Creek, Mill Creek, and Chambers Creek. All of them flow into the Trinity system.

These waterways can flood during heavy rain. That is why FEMA has updated flood maps for many Ellis County communities along creek corridors. If you are buying land near any of these creeks, look up the FEMA flood zone for that parcel before you close.
