Texas property tax is local. Counties, cities, school districts, special districts, hospital districts, and other local units adopt rates and collect taxes through the local system.

That is why two homes at the same price can have different bills. The exact parcel decides the taxing units, exemptions, and rate stack.

Do not budget from a statewide average. Look up the account at the county appraisal district and the tax office.
