Travis Central Appraisal District: What It Does

Travis Central Appraisal District (TCAD) appraises every property in the county each year. That value is used to calculate your property tax bill. TCAD does not collect taxes — that is handled by the Travis County Tax Office.

If you think your home is valued too high, you can protest the value. TCAD offers informal meetings before any formal hearing. The district is located at 850 East Anderson Lane in Austin. Check traviscad.org for deadlines, which change year to year.
