Multiple taxing entities bill Floyd County property owners

One Floyd County tax bill is really a stack of separate ones. The county takes its cut. If your parcel sits inside Floydada or Lockney, that city adds a line. Your school district (Floydada ISD or Lockney ISD) adds another. So does the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District No. 1, which reaches across this whole stretch of the High Plains.

Then there's a pair of hospital districts, Lockney General and Caprock, and the Mackenzie Municipal Water Authority on top of that. Every one of them sets its own rate, and your bill is just all the rates that touch your land added together. Those rates get reset every year, so a budget built on last year's numbers can be off. The Comptroller's county directory carries the current ones once they're adopted.
