Tawakoni WMA offers public hunting and outdoor access

The Duck Cove Unit of Tawakoni WMA sits mostly in Van Zandt County, covering about 792 acres along Lake Tawakoni. TPWD manages this land for wildlife including white-tailed deer, feral hogs, waterfowl, dove, and squirrel. The WMA is open year-round.

To hunt on WMA land, you need a TPWD Annual Public Hunting Permit in addition to your regular hunting license. Fishing, hiking, camping, and wildlife viewing are also allowed.
