Splitting Land Can Trigger Williamson County Plat Review

Dividing rural land in Williamson County can be a county review matter, even when the land sits outside any city. The county's Development Services and Drainage page links the Williamson County Subdivision Regulations and notes that each revised version applies to new applications received on or after its effective date, with revisions running through March 2025.

The county's Road and Bridge page adds that the County Engineer/Road and Bridge Division enforces development requirements in those regulations and inspects subdivision road construction and utility installation in county right-of-way.

Before selling a cut-out tract, recording a plat, or promising road access, check with Williamson County Development Services. If the land is in a city's ETJ, city plat approval or coordination may also be part of the process.
