Who handles property taxes in Starr County

Two doors in the same Rio Grande City building lead to different property-tax jobs. Starr CAD, in Suite 300 at 100 N. FM 3167, appraises taxable property. It also handles exemption forms and value protests.

The collector printed on a tax bill handles its balance and payment. Starr County's Tax Assessor-Collector works from Suite 201 and collects for several local units, but another collector may appear on a bill. When a value looks wrong, take the protest to Starr CAD. When a balance looks wrong, call the collector named on the bill.
