Two separate offices handle property taxes in Liberty County

The Liberty County Central Appraisal District (Liberty CAD) decides what your property is worth and handles exemptions. It is located at 2030 Sam Houston Street in Liberty. The Tax Assessor-Collector's office collects the actual tax payments. These are two separate agencies with separate addresses.

If you think your value is too high, you file a protest with Liberty CAD, not with the tax office. If you need to pay your bill or register a vehicle, go to the Tax Office. The Tax Office has three locations: Liberty, Cleveland, and Dayton. Keeping these two offices straight saves confusion and missed deadlines. Check each agency's website for current hours and deadlines.
