Two offices handle your property tax in Jackson County
The brick building at 404 N. Allen St. in Edna and the courthouse office at 115 W. Main St., Room 102, a few blocks over, do two completely different jobs on the same tax bill. The Jackson Central Appraisal District (JCAD), on Allen, decides what your property is worth. The Tax Assessor-Collector, on Main, sends the bill and takes your payment. Different staff, different doors.
So when you open a tax notice that looks too high, the value came from JCAD, and that's where you argue it — the Main Street office can't change a number it didn't set. Both offices keep their own websites, where the protest windows and payment due dates for the current year are posted; those dates shift a little year to year, so the live page beats anything printed.
