Austin County has two separate property tax offices

Two Bellville offices split the job. Austin County Appraisal District is at 906 E. Amelia St. It values property, handles exemptions, and collects property taxes for the local taxing units it serves.

The county tax assessor-collector is at 804 E. Wendt St. The county page points vehicle titles and registration there, and says property taxes are collected by the appraisal district.

So if you bought a home and need a homestead exemption, start with ACAD, not the vehicle office. ACAD says there is no charge to file. Texas rules still decide who qualifies and which extra exemptions may apply.

Use ACAD for the current tax bill, payment portal, exemptions, protest details, and penalty or interest questions. The Comptroller directory is a good backup when you need the official office split.
