When Travis County Property Taxes Are Due

Travis County tax bills usually begin going out in October. Rate setting and elections can delay a bill. Taxes are due when the bill arrives. January 31 is the usual last day to pay without penalty and interest. If that date falls on a weekend or holiday, it moves to the next business day.

A bill mailed after January 10 gets at least 21 days before it is late. Most unpaid accounts become late on February 1. Payment plans, deferrals, and changed or missing bills can use other dates. Follow your own bill when it gives you more time.

Pay and confirm receipt through the Travis County Tax Office. If a lender handles escrow, check the account before the deadline. Do not just assume it was paid. Take a bill question to the Tax Office. Take a value or exemption question to TCAD.
