Who handles property taxes in Sutton County

The Sutton County Appraisal District sets your property's value. It is in Sonora. The Tax Assessor/Collector office does not collect property taxes here. The appraisal district does that job too.

Up to five taxing units can charge you taxes. They are: Sutton County, the City of Sonora, Sonora Independent School District, the Sutton County Hospital District, and the Sutton County Underground Water Conservation District. If your land is outside city limits, you likely won't owe city taxes. You will still owe the other four.
