Who Handles Your Property Tax in San Jacinto County
The number on your property tax bill is really two decisions made by two different offices in Coldspring. At 99 Slade St., the San Jacinto County Appraisal District decides what your land and home are worth for tax purposes. That is the office you deal with when you think your value is too high or you want to file for an exemption.
The Tax Assessor-Collector is the other half. It takes that value, prints the bill, and accepts your payment. Mixing the two up is the easiest way to waste a phone call. A question about your number goes to the appraisal district, a question about your balance goes to the tax office. Both sit in Coldspring, so a wrong stop is at least a short walk, not a wrong town.
