Who Sets Your Property Value in Colorado County

Start with the Colorado County Appraisal District at 106 Cardinal Lane in Columbus. That office is the local appraisal district. Appraisal districts appraise property as of Jan. 1 each year, then local tax rates are applied to that value.

Colorado County has one extra wrinkle. The county tax assessor-collector office is listed at 318 Spring Street, but that office is marked as not collecting property taxes. For collection questions, the directory points taxpayers back to the appraisal district, which may collect some or all local property taxes.

If the value looks wrong, look for CCAD's protest tools before the deadline on your notice. The district site links to forms, online protest, property search, and online payment. The Comptroller directory is a good backup for the current address and phone number.
