Who Handles Your Property Tax in Childress County

The Childress County Appraisal District (CCAD) decides taxable value and collects property tax for participating local units.

The county tax assessor-collector does not collect these property taxes. For a tax bill, start with CCAD, not the assessor-collector.

The same appraised value is used by several local units. That list includes the county, the City of Childress, three school districts, the health district, two groundwater districts, and Clarendon Junior College District.

Each unit sets its own rate. Use CCAD's property search for your parcel, then call the district if the bill does not make sense.
