Food Permit

Mobile food units need Dallas County health inspection

Food trucks and other mobile food units in Dallas County have a county health step. Dallas County Health and Human Services says it permits mobile food units by appointment, and the permit is for health and safety inspection only.

The county page also says the permit does not exempt a mobile food unit from municipal or unincorporated-area rules, such as fire, zoning, parking, or other local requirements. Operators need proof of completed fire and safety inspections where those apply.

Before buying a trailer or booking events, read the county application packet and call DCHHS. A food truck can cross city boundaries in one day, but the permit trail still has to match where it operates.
