McKinney Roughs Puts Trails and Zip Lines on the Colorado River Edge
McKinney Roughs Nature Park is the Bastrop County place that makes the Colorado River feel bigger than a line on the map. The park has miles of multiuse trails used on foot, by bike, and on horseback. LCRA also offers bookable UTV tours and zip-line programs.
The Colorado River runs through the property. That helps explain the mix: trail loops, horseback riding, river rafting, wildlife viewing, and outdoor-learning programs all meet in the same park.
McKinney Roughs has its own rhythm. You can spend a quiet morning watching wildlife, or book something much louder and faster. The river, trails, and programs make this more than a patch of open land along Highway 71.
For a resident, that can mean a trail morning, a horseback ride, or a family outing without a long road trip. For a visitor, it is a useful window into the lower Colorado corridor even when nobody in the car plans to launch a boat.
