Both People Must Appear for an El Paso County Marriage License

The El Paso County Clerk hands out marriage licenses from its downtown and satellite offices. You can preview the application form online, but you can't finish it from a couch. Both people have to show up in person.

Bring valid government-issued photo ID, and expect the names on the license to match those IDs exactly. Both parties need to be at least 18 and need to know their social security numbers when they arrive.

There's a 72-hour wait between issuance and the ceremony unless a listed waiver or exception lifts it, and the wedding has to happen within 89 days of the license being issued. If you've recently divorced, look at the Clerk's page before locking in a date — the timing rules can shift the earliest day you're allowed to marry.
