Getting a marriage license at the Rockwall County Clerk

The Rockwall County Clerk sits at 1111 E. Yellowjacket Lane, Suite 100, just east of SH 205. You can fill out the application online ahead of time or use the public terminals right there in the office, but either way both people have to show up in person with a valid driver's license or state ID, unless one of you files an absent-applicant form.

Texas builds in a cooling-off period: once the license is issued, you wait 72 hours before you can actually get married. So a same-day courthouse wedding won't work here, so count the calendar back from your ceremony date. The license runs $81, though the county knocks $60 off if you finish a state-approved premarital education course first.

Watch one scheduling catch: the office won't issue a marriage license after 4 p.m., even though the doors stay open until 5. If you're driving in after work to beat a weekend wedding, leave yourself room. Show up at 4:15 and you're coming back tomorrow.
