Marriage Records Start With the County Clerk
Two different things often get mixed up here. A marriage license is the document you get before the wedding so the ceremony is legal. A certified marriage record is the official copy you order afterward to prove you are married. In Maverick County, both run through the County Clerk's office at the courthouse in Eagle Pass.
The county describes the Clerk as the official record keeper for deeds, liens, marriage licenses, and birth and death records, and also lists marriage certificates under the Clerk's online services. So whether you are picking up a license before the wedding or ordering a copy years later, the Clerk's page is the right starting point.
Before you drive over, call or check the Clerk's page for what to bring. Texas counties generally want valid photo ID from both people and a fee, and the state sets a short waiting period between getting the license and the ceremony. The Texas Department of State Health Services confirms certified copies come from the county clerk where the license was filed, so if you married elsewhere, order from that county, not Maverick.
