Pleasanton's Old Railroad Depot Got a Second Address at the Longhorn Museum

Pleasanton's San Antonio, Uvalde and Gulf depot once stood along Highway 281 on the north side of town. It later moved to the Longhorn Museum grounds. A Union Pacific caboose joined the exhibit, and the depot now holds artifacts and written accounts from the area's early railroad days.

The museum reaches beyond the tracks. Artifacts, documents, portraits, and short written pieces tell Atascosa County history. The collections also include a Texas game exhibit, a windmill, and a hearse with its own local story.

The museum doubles as Pleasanton's tourist information center, with maps and brochures for the city and county. Admission is free, and groups can arrange tours. The old depot still welcomes travelers; they just reach it by road now.
