Most Bexar homestead applicants need a matching Texas ID address

For most homestead claims, BCAD asks for a Texas driver's license or state ID with the home's address. A mailing address alone does not replace the street address. If you just moved, update the ID before you file when you can.

The match rule has exceptions. State forms give other paths for some people in care homes, people in the Address Confidentiality Program, active-duty troops and spouses, and some public officers whose home address is protected. Each path needs its own proof. April 30 is the usual filing date. Texas also allows a late general claim, often up to two years after the tax due date. A protected or unusual address calls for BCAD's current proof list, not a skipped claim.
