Hurricane Season Runs June Through November in Galveston County
A Galveston storm plan has two halves: leaving if officials call for it and living through a long outage if they do not. Know your zip zone, inland route, alert source, and a place where your household and pets can go.
Build a go-bag and several days of home supplies. Include water, food, lights, phone power, medicines, cash, and what children, older adults, or pets need. Review wind and flood coverage before a named storm forms.
When a local order comes, use its route and timing. Conditions, ferry service, and road access can change. The National Hurricane Center gives the forecast; city and county officials give local instructions.
