What You Need to Hunt in Wharton County

Most of Wharton County is private farmland and ranch land. To hunt here, you need landowner permission and a Texas hunting license. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) requires anyone 17 or older to have a license to hunt or trap any animal in the state.

You can buy licenses online at tpwd.texas.gov, by phone at 800-895-4248, or at about 1,700 retail locations across Texas including sporting goods and grocery stores.
