Hays County's flood maps answer different questions

Hays County gathers data from creek gauges and road sites. The live WETMap helps during a storm, but each reading is only a snapshot. No warning on the map does not make a road safe.

For a drive, check the live map and obey each sign and gate. For a home or land, use FEMA's map and the county flood page. Some older maps may miss newer growth and drainage.

A road map is not a flood study for one lot. A flood zone also cannot tell you whether a road is safe during a storm.
