Cedar Creek Reservoir offers big-lake fishing near Athens

Cedar Creek Reservoir covers about 32,623 acres and sits in Henderson and Kaufman counties. The lake record for largemouth bass is 14.65 pounds. Catfish and white or hybrid striped bass fishing are both rated excellent by Texas Parks and Wildlife.

All fishing follows statewide regulations; TPWD lists no special lake rule. You still need a valid Texas fishing license. TPWD publishes access points and boat ramps, and Water Data for Texas tracks the current lake level before a boat day.
