Burleson's Museum Sits in the Old Interurban Depot

Before the highway, an electric interurban line ran people between Fort Worth and the towns south of it, and Burleson's depot was a stop on it. That depot still stands at 124 W. Ellison Street, and it's now the Burleson Museum and Visitors Center — owned by the city, run by volunteers from the Burleson Heritage Foundation.

Inside, the displays lean on donated pieces from local families and businesses, the everyday stuff of a small Texas town's history, plus visitor information if you're new to the area. Out on an adjacent pad sits the restored #330 rail car, moved there in 2010, with a set of kiosks walking through Burleson's story.

It gives Johnson County's north end its own anchor instead of sending everyone to Cleburne for local history. The doors are open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 to 4, which is worth checking before you drive over.
