Lake park
Texarkana's lake park sits right at the edge of the A&M campus
Bringle Lake sits on the northwest edge of Texarkana, off University Drive next to the Texas A&M-Texarkana campus and the Texarkana Golf Ranch. The west park, at 7602 Bringle Lake Road, is the busy side: a boat ramp, two fishing piers, sand volleyball, an exercise station, a covered playground, and a 1,500-square-foot pavilion set right over the water. It runs about seven acres.
Cross to the quieter east park at 7500 Bringle Lake Road and the feel changes. It's eight acres the city describes as a small step into the wilderness, with a floating fishing pier, a bike trail, picnic grills, and ten little pavilions tucked under the trees. The two sides aren't separate stops. A boardwalk built along the shoreline links them, so you can park at one end and walk the water to the other.
It's daylight-use only, and the parks office runs the whole Bringle system. Eddie Aulds handles it at 903-798-3978 if you want to book a pavilion or ask about trail conditions. For a town better known for its state-line oddities than its scenery, having a real lake (fishing piers, boat ramp, and all) fifteen minutes from downtown is the kind of thing locals quietly take for granted.
