Bastrop's Main Street District Is a 62-Block Downtown Core

Downtown Bastrop is bigger than one picture-ready block. As of July 2026, its Main Street District covers 62 blocks and includes more than 200 businesses and groups.

The formal Main Street program opened in 2007. It works to care for old buildings, involve neighbors, help local businesses, and keep downtown active.

Here, 'Main Street' means more than one row of shops. The district also takes in public spaces, old buildings, and side streets. They all sit under the same city program.

That larger footprint makes downtown worth exploring beyond the familiar postcard view. The district is not one attraction set aside from daily life. It is a working piece of Bastrop.
