Office Visit
You Don't Have to Drive Into Waco for Car Tags: McGregor and West Do It Too
If you live out toward the western or northern edge of the county, the trip downtown to 215 N 5th isn't the only option. The county runs full-service auto substations at 415 N. Johnson in McGregor (254-759-7567) and 201 N Reagan in West (254-759-5998), and both handle the full menu: titles, registration, placards, the works. They keep weekday hours but close for lunch from noon to one, so time your visit around that.
For the simplest job, just slapping a new sticker on a current registration, you don't even need a county counter. The county lets you process renewal notices at several area H-E-B grocery stores and at Educators Credit Union locations, which is handy when the renewal notice lands and you'd rather not take time off work.
West, by the way, is the same Czech-heritage town famous for its kolaches off I-35, worth a bakery stop if the tag errand takes you up there anyway.
