Amistad camping is simple, dry, and mostly first-come
Governors Landing, Rough Canyon, San Pedro, Spur 406, and 277 North are the five designated campgrounds. Regular sites are first-come and self-pay. Each has a covered table, grill, and vault toilet, but only Governors Landing has shared running-water spigots.
RVs fit at many sites, though there are no hookups. A dump station with potable water is reserved for people camping in the recreation-area campgrounds. Group sites follow a different system and are booked through Recreation.gov.
The stay limit is 14 nights in a row and 60 nights across the park in a calendar year. Amistad is easy to use once the dry-camping setup is understood: arrive with water, know the rig length, and read the live campground page for closures.
